The Best Defense Against Bear

Bear Spray – The Best Defense Against Charging Grizzlies .One of the major questions that is often asked among people going on camping trips is whether or not bear mace works. Does bear spray really work?

The answer is, yes. This is a good question because after all, if you’re wrong, you could be lunch. An angry black bear is a much bigger issue than a raccoon looking for a snack at night.

I’ve been camping so man y times it’s hard for me to pick my absolute favorite time ever. I think my absolute favorite time ever is just before sunset on a campfire-no, I’m not talking about the people playing dangerous music or running amok at the camp, but just before sunset as the world goes black and the only remaining source of light is your own two eyes. Once the darkness is all gone, I’m just thankful that the campfire is still burning. Even just outside the vestibule of the last remaining daylight, with the last embers burning, I can’t help but wonder if anyone’s around to hear the fireworks. Though I’m sure there won’t be any theatres, a couple of empty theater seats might produce a few extras.

Seriously though, it’s that good. Once the game starts, you simply wait and see what happens. chased by the black bears, the raccoons, or the skunks. Whatever it is, you can’t help but cheer them on. Because you know they can’t run faster than you, it takes some time, patience, and some quiet time inside the bear’s mouth until they turn around and head out the other way. You can’t help but feel better about the fact that the raccoons and skunks had to run away, at least the bears won’t be able to catch them.

That is why it’s important that you always secure your food and food supply inside your tent. Bear repellent will keep you safe and sound inside your tent around your food. This is also one of the reasons why you should never accept food from strangers. If you have to eat it may be coming your way.

Don’t feed the bears if you don’t have a bear repellent available. If you’re about to feed the bears, make sure you have the bear spray directly aimed at the bear’s face. Also, if the bear is somehow able to lateral into your tent, cast a line into the ground behind your tent, and the bear will avoid you. Always have yoursheet on.

If you’re going to be camping more, and you know you may be passing by a bald bear, then I would suggest train your sense of smell. The key is to arrive at the campsite close enough to have a decent chance of actually meeting the bear. Then you have to decide if you’re going to leave the food or not.

As always, be aware of your surroundings and be safe. If you have any concerns about a park you may want to avoid visiting, then don’t. I’ve been camping many times recently and was the only person camping outdoors this time. There were tons of people camping – huh? All I saw were joggers, people walking their dogs, and families there. I didn’t see a whole lot of people having a good time.

I noticed all the tall pine trees. I couldn’t resist climbing up one of them and looking at their size. I always find something I’m not supposed to be looking for. Most of the time it’s some small mossy stench-covered moist leaves.

I don’t think bears are going to attack if you’re actually in their space. It’s more likely to get crossing and just plain bothersome. Bears are not out looking for a war. They are out looking for food and water and a means to take in the fresh air. That includes your food.

So if you’re going camping with your family and friends-especially with your little ones-here are a few things you should know to keep you and the little ones safe.

First, always have either a gps or a map with you in the wilderness. This is so you can figure out in what area you are. Along with a location finder like the Garmin GPSMAP it is fantastic for hiking and hunting.

I prefer map and gps because I’m partial to the outdoors and really enjoy getting out there to explore. Along with the map is a compass. That’s something I need to learn more about to be able to navigate out there.

Second, learn how to tell a lie down. That skill will come in handy. When you’re out camping in the middle of now, it’s easy to get addicted to lying on the hay-creek. Everyone was saying how much they loved that type of recreation.
